“The View” that moved me.
Monday, February 12th, 2007Last week I was watching ABC‘c “The View.” There was a very interesting segment called “I can’t believe a kid did it.” This segment featured a 12yr old girl named Akiane. This girl is a child prodigy who does extraordinary paintings comparable to the greats like Picasso. She also writes wonderful poetry that just melts your heart.
Akinae says she had a profound spiritual experience when she was just 4 yrs old. Her parents were atheists but her experience brought them also in the realm of spirituality. What appears extraordinary or superhuman to us is natural to this little girl. She says that art and poetry just flows through her. I listened to her talk and felt that she was a very grounded person. Her painting sell for millions worldwide. That kind of success that early would probably get to one’s head but not Akiane. She is the most modest and humble kid I’ve ever seen. All her art put forth a message of compassion, peace and spirituality. I feel very lucky to have seen her even though it was just on TV.
I would highly recommend visiting this girl’s website. It is such a treat to see her paintings and read her poems.
In my mind, she is an evolved human. She is in touch with the divine all the time. She says that God speaks to her through visions, voices and dreams. When you see her paintings and poetry you can feel how true it is. To me this girl’s extraordinary talent is proof that there is something beyond what we can comprehend with our egoic mind. This is the divine realm of unbridled creativity and Akinae is able to channel it. Like Akiane there are many children who are extraordinarily gifted in different areas like music, science, technology etc. These are the evolved humans who I believe will save humanity from self destructing. These might be a small number of people but their influence will be able to cloud all the detrimental factors that are out there. In Hindu mythology we have an epic “Mahabharatha” and this is a story in which five virtuous/good people win against a hundred forces of jealousy/hatred/evil.
The present world we live in is filled with war, hatred, distrust, and chaos but I believe that amongst us are the evolved humans and they are going to be instrumental in bringing peace and harmony. I feel the cycle has already begun and we are lucky to be able to live through the metamorphosis happening in mankind. The quest for spirituality is rising. Hence the popularity of books like the “The Power of Now” and DVD’s like “What the Bleep do we Know?” and “The Secret.” Even the media is shining its light on spiritual people because there is a thirst amongst us all to be complete harmonious human beings.
This segment on Akiane on The View (on ABC) got me thinking about spirituality, oneness, compassion, and peace and filled me with a feeling of hope and harmony for all humanity. I am hopeful it can do the same to the reader of this blog.
